Barring his brief stint at Leigh RMI, Stuart has played for Alty my whole adult life. It's going to be a strange place without him around and I really hope that there is some way he can be involved again in the future.

"Legend" is an over-used word in football, but Stuart is as big a legend as they come at this club and he will be sorely missed.

Thanks for everything Stuart! :)

I was lucky enough to see Stuart in three of his greatest games. The penalty save and goal at Runcorn, that wonder save at Telford and then the save after save against Nuneaton.

What a true hero for Alty and a player who will never be forgotten.

He has intimated that he may become a fan, that would be wonderful if he can stomach watching but not playing. Get on the Golf Road Stu, that would be great. Another performance memory, away at Cambridge the last day when we had to be seen to compete as it was between CU and Burton for promotion.

I had completely forgotten about the gravity of that game, and Stuart's performance that day. Top drawer as he so often was.

I've only ever really known Stuart Coburn as goalkeeper at Altrincham. I'll always remember the way he signed off on a victory with those iconic fist-pumps, while fans of the opposition stood confused watching us drag out an "oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh" for a minute or so.

A free season ticket perhaps Mr Rowley?  I reckon so.

What would make a suitable tribute?

Do we think we could manage a continuous 670 second (it was 670 appearances wasn't it?)  rendition of "England's number one" on Saturday - probably at HT so events on the pitch don't interfere?

It's a long time for a chant but 1 second per appearance doesn't sound much, just shows what an achievement that is.
