Sure we'll get someone else but IMO people's downer on Rankine is a bit OTT. He scored 16 goals in a struggling team and early doors was very impressive. He appeared to lack energy and motivation towards the end of the season and made some poor performances, but overall I think was a good player for us.

Amazing how people had so much hatred for a guy who was our leading scorer last season. Sure, he faded at the end but he was clearly playing when he shouldn't have been with back and ankle injuries. He scored some great goals, was an outlet for our ale house long balls from our uncultured play from defence, and personally I am sorry to see him go.

Ok, well let's see if we keep it on the deck next season and play to Damian's strengths. Somehow I doubt it, but to blame Ranks is pushing it

I think 13 league goals from 30 starts compares very favourably with the majority of strikers we've had in the last 40 odd years, particularly in the 'top' league. The frustration with Ranks was his fitness couldn't see him complete two matches a week and it showed. Undoubtedly will find a place as a squad player in the national division which was exactly what he was at Gateshead. I like NY's approach, he's clearly got a plan on squad numbers linked to budget and player reliability and is sticking to it.

He was ok, I'm only mystified as to which conf clubs are offering him contracts surely as a last 10 mins disruptor as he can't run through 90 mins, he and Perry are the type of forwards we can do without neither were as good at it as Johnson on his day (and what a sad waste of talent that was)

He faded and gave up like a lot of others did at the tail end of the season

He also seemed very unfit by the end of the season but generally the squad fitness was poor

On form he was worth keeping but I'm not going to shed any tears however wish him all the best for the future

Johnson.........Jeff Johnson?   One of our greatest ever players, I'm confused unless I'm missing something.
