Had a good look at the pitch pre kick off. That dust is actually thousands of small rubbery pieces, abour 3mm wide, which I assume plays some role in trying to make the pitch play as grass would.

I think they are tiny rubber balls that they spread on the surface that fly about when you run on it

Great minds  ;)

My lad plays on those pitches and you end up with a shoe full of them after the game

Just been online and the pitches have a base of sand and what they call "rubber crumb" ie little rubber balls.

How about just using grass?

Agree totally. I'm not a fan of plastic pitches, tits or Tupperware containers  :D

I was worried when I read that until I realised the word "plastic" is assumed to precede the anatomical reference. Personally, I'm ok with Tupperware.

Happy to come away from there with a point so late in the game

We were under pressure for long periods of the game so made the point sweeter

Very tidy ground but not much atmosphere

Three results over the course of a season that aren't actually bad as stand alone results. If we can be on the road to Kidderminster on ten points I'll view it as a solid start. Shame for the young lad, but we probably need to give Preston a go on Tuesday. Fylde will be a decent side. We've come through two of the hardest away trips in this league unbeaten. Everyone is itching for a win after such a terrible season last year, it'll come, to get four tough games out of the way by mid August will ultimately prove to be a good thing

It was an abject game with virtually no quality whatsoever and I'm not sure it was all the fault of the pitch. If we had a fit Nicky Clee among our ranks we'd absolutely stroll this league. We have very little up front, yet I was always confident we'd get an equaliser - neither team deserved to win. Cyrus will win everything in the air for you, which has got to give you a chance and Goodall was outstanding as emergency centre back. There is lots and lots of endeavour and I doubt we'll lose many, but we simply lack the killer touch. Looking forward to seeing Preston given a go on Tuesday - we can't afford to give Fylde a head start.

Can we please stop the constant references to Nicky Clee. Yes he was a good player and a nice bloke with it, but whether or not you agree with him being released is irrelevant he's gone and that's it, he ain't coming back and our season will not be a failure or success without his presence or any of the other past heroes of the football club in the team.

Not really a fan of plastic pitches but they moved on since back in the day, also with refs calling games off at the drop of a hat in the winter,I can see why teams use them.

I wasn't saying we should bring Nicky back (the poor lad will probably be injured soon). The point I was making, was if we had a player even remotely like him, we'd run away with this league. Harrogate were bang average and others have said how poor Halifax were.
