A big well done to the board?? How hard is it to say 'yes Mr Harvey you have the job'? Well done and thanks Jim Harvey for applying more like. All the best and good luck.

ye gods - many years of loyal service, all unpaid and hundreds of thousands of hours put in is great, thanks very much, but make one phone call to specialist paper and you're "never forgiven".  A degree of balance is perhaps required?

If this was some new bloke who had been here for ten minutes then yes, we'd all be livid and upset that the club was in the hands of such a bloke, but it's not, it's a long serving fan of the club who many people on here know well (me not amongst them) and he has made a mistake - get over it.

Well, let's hope that the chairman helps some of us to "get over it" by duly acknowledging his recent lapses in judgment and issuing a sincere apology.

Fair play to Jim Harvey for signing up to attempt our resurrection on the field.

Best wishes.....but please be very careful about exactly who you give your mobile phone number to...!

Many apologies.....but I just couldn't resist dredging up this photograph from August 1978:

Delighted to take advantage of social media to welcome Jim Harvey to the club and congratulate the board on their decision.   ;D

great news.

That should be the football side of the club under the right management and the board can go back to doing what they do best (and really well) in building up the off-field / community side of the club.
is this a serious post? After all thats been said in the press this weekend, all can just go back to normal like that?

well said babs

yes - unless you think that the club as a whole will be better off by dragging this latest episode out further and continuing the infighting - what do you think it will actually achieve?

We have a manager who a good number of the fans wanted as first choice and most are very happy with, we have a board who have built up the junior and community side of the club, attracted a decent level of sponsorship and overseen the arrival of a significant long term asset (CSH) mainly through grant funding.  I can forgive the odd misjudgement in PR (and yes a couple of articles in the last 6 months still counts as the odd one now and then), no one is perfect but the current board have the club at heart and are pretty good at most of what they do behind the scenes.

But no you're right the team has been woeful, (but it's got a bit better recently), the board appointed a manager 4 months ago who turned out to be a disaster (although his appointment was broadly welcomed at the time) and there have been some shocking mistakes recently so lets keep focusing on those rather than getting behind the new manager and the club and trying to go forward in a positive attitude, that will really help. ::)

Yes, all forgiven until the next debacle. No chance of an apology or acceptance of accountability? A lot of fans now feel rightly embittered, it won't pass quickly.

for some of us it will never pass

Jim Harvey sounds a decent appointment, and good luck to him

But this club is only heading in one direction whilst the current chairman is in post. The NLP comments will never be forgiven or forgotten and nor should they, the good name of this club and its supporters has been forever tarnished

Fully agree

This is the type of appointment I expect as a minimum for this club. No pats on the back for the board for appointing what looks on the face of it a fair appointment for once

Pat on the back for Jim Harvey though for taking the job despite all the negative publicity surrounding the club. Brave man
