What are the Board's motive with the Strategic Review?
« on: December 06, 2016, 12:24:58 AM »

Why would a board who propose to have the best interests in the football club and by usual extension first team hold a strategic review and ask the question: "What is the purpose of Altrincham Football Club?"

To get a fan's perspective of what they think the football club should be. They're not asking because they don't know, they're asking because they want as many different opinions as possible. It's a way to try and bridge the gap between the fans and board that everyone has been complaining about so much recently.

Surely, the purpose of Altrincham football club should be to have a first team that competes at as high a league as possible with the aim for continuous improvement. Or is that different for GRFC?

Perfectly valid question, though it should be the first one asked.

It's a valid question

If Alty never existed in the first place, who would we all support ? Herein probably lies the answer to what the purpose of the club is

It does seem a little harsh to be criticising the Board for consulting the fans when they are normally criticised for not doing so. I would like to think they are actually interested in what we think the answer to the question is. If you are going to do a review you may as well review everything, right back to basics. When I sent my replies in I was more worried that the website link didn't work, but that may just be my steam-driven computer or the dreaded B.T. Internet. I suggest we all tell them what we think - you never know, they might actually take some notice.
