For sheer drama I suppose its Wilkos goal in the playoff final, though the Kettering own goal in the earlier playoff is well up there too.

I recall a brilliant goal by Carmody against Southport into the top corner it seemed to take forever to fly in

The sometimes overlooked Blackpool wins were also terrific. We made them look bloody silly beating them on their own pitch two years running. It wasn't complacency second time round, there was some luck but there was stacks of determination too. It was a brilliant day.

Today marks the 39th anniversary of Mal Bailey's unforgettable goal at Canal Street which secured Alty's first visit to Wembley.
