It did seem unlikely that our board would be so proactive to be honest.

Other clubs were approached regarding speaking with their manager about the vacancy.

This may or may not explain the sudden long term contracts being offered to a lot of average managers at non league clubs

First job ...   get two keepers who are fit and available. Can't believe we only had one today when sicknote Deasy is on the team sheet. Its fkn disgraceful not having a sub keeper.
Deasy could get injured tripping over the white line on his 6 yard box ffs.

It's not the first time this goalkeeping fiasco has happened. Like a great deal of things associated with our club, it just looks very very amateur.

So Phil Parkinson wasn't our first choice then?

Not sure that claim stands up. Not even Mr. Rowley would pick one name. It makes sense to at least try to cast the net further than that.

Phil Parkinson was the first choice.

Other clubs were approached at a fairly early stage in the process, as they had a manager that we had an interest in talking to. Ultimately, there was a shortlist of 5  interviewees & Phil Parkinson was selected as first choice. It's a reasonable assumption to make that either our approach to speak to their manager was turned down by the club or we were given permission to speak to their manager but he wasn't ultimately the first choice.

Stuart Coburn must be spinning in his retirement.
