Best starting 11
« on: November 15, 2017, 06:45:04 PM »

I am intrigued to the thoughts of everyone's best 11 if everyone was fit,and playing to the potential that we have seen at some point.

GK Deasy ( if he could recover the form of 2/3 seasons ago, Thompson has been doing well )

RB Densmore ( just has more to offer than Bembo-Leta, who hasn't done much wrong)
LB Short ( Hampson looks decent )
CB Harrison ( first choice CB, he has been immense)
CB Jones ( just edges Hannigan because of speed and distribution)

DM Moult ( best position for him, keep him away from pens though)

LW JJ ( our danger man and is more effective by a country mile on the left)
RW Miller ( fingers crossed to get him back fit )
CM Richman ( our best midfielder this season but needs to keep tabs on his discipline)

CF Poole or Hancock as the no.10. ( Poole is a class player but I think Hancock would be more influential in that position. Not actually bothered...even one. Not a massive fan of Hancock on the wings but hard to leave out)
ST Hulme ( just edges Peers but Tom has a much better shot and speed, Hulme holds it up much better)

I would like to see more of Walsh without risking points. We have young Taylor who is an asset when fit. Harrop has impressed me. The depth of the squad is quality at this level. I feel Amis will struggle, I think he would slow our play down. Hulme holds it but shifts the ball on quicker.

I had forgotten about Disney who impressed pre season.

Neither Deasy or Densmore are fit enough to be regular starters anymore, not sure what Millers done to get in the team? And Hancock leading goalscorer (in the league) not sure why he's being dropped or being played out of position

Think the team picks itself only doubt would be at left back

Close call between Short and Hampson will be interesting to see if the latters loan gets extended.

Deasy 6 starts 15 goals conceded (including 10 in his last three)
Thompson 20 starts 12 goals conceded

No brainer!

Thompson

RB - Densmore
CB - Harrison
CB - Hannigan (if he ever gets fit)
LB - Hampson

MC - Moult
MC - Harrop

AML - JJ
AMC - Poole
AMR - Hancock

FC - Hulme

I may start Ringo in centre midfield for some games , but Harrop has been a quality recently and can't be dropped on his current form.

No Hancock is confusing at the very least. Assuming everyone is fully fit:

Thompson
Bembo-Leta, Harrison, Hannigan, Short
Richman, Moult
Hancock, Poole, Johnston
Hulme

Picks itself if I'm honest, but that's not to say that we don't have serious strength in depth at this level. PP has put together a sizeable squad with decent quality in almost every position, clearly evident last night. We've got a squad that keeps each other on their toes, and for me that's something we've lacked since 2014/15 if not earlier.

Most positions pick themselves exceptions being Hampson/Short, Hancock/Walsh in the middle. Not seen Poole play as the 9 so can't say, but would think he'd be decent.

My only consideration there would be the left back position as Dens has been as steady as anything. Unless we can secure Hampson longer-term then I don't think he should be part of the debate.

We have a handful of players who could play their way into the side, it's exciting. I just think that XI is pretty easy to pick based on performances up to now.

I think the first team is fairly straight forward, a more interesting question is about the players who will come in, when someone gets suspended or injured.
I always think the team which wins the league, is the team with the strongest bench.
You are going to call on these players at really important times of the season.
In the conference team under Sinnott, we had no one on the bench, but now in games you have a number of options. Think back to the Clitheroe game and the performance of Peers.

I said 'if' everyone is fit and playing to their potential. Densmore played 120 mins last night. Hancock favourite position by his own admission is no.10. Short is a very good player.

I'm pretty clear with everyone up to the final third of the pitch.

Thompson
Disney
Short
Harrison
Hannigan
Moult
Richman
Poole

The front 3 is still a bit of an issue for me. I just think that for every 4-6 goal game we have, there is a nil in us. That worries me.

Again..I said "if' everyone is fit, in an ideal world and playing to their best.
