Should we play Warrington, that will mean 4 games so far, with a 5th to play. (2 league, 3 cup)

Is that a record number of games against a side in a single season?

I think we played Fisher 5 times in a season in the early 90s

Wouldn't it have been six games against Fisher that season? Pretty sure the trophy tie was settled at the fourth time of asking. I think that was late 80s.

We played Fisher Athletic six times during the 1987/88 season, including four games in the FA Trophy.

We also played Macc on six occasions throughout the 1990/91 season (twice in the league; twice in the FA Cup and twice in the Cheshire Senior Cup).

The 1976/77 season saw us play against Scarborough six times: two league fixtures plus that four-game marathon FA Trophy Semi-Final.

During the 1975/75 season, we played Runcorn no less that seven times:

NPL: two;

FA Trophy: four;

Cheshire Senior Cup: one.

Also, in 1974/5, we had 4 games against Runcorn in the FA Trophy, therefore, with the 2 NPL matches playing them at least 6 times. I can't remember if we played them in the CSC or North West Floodlit League that year, but if we did, that may be the highest number of games that we have played against one team in a single season?

Beat you to it, Brian!

We didn't play against Runcorn in the NWFL back in 1974/75.

The Cheshire Senior Cup tie was the Final at Crewe, which culminated in a 3-2 victory for Runcorn.

Not as many as some of the others but in 72/3 we played Buxton five times - and none of those were league matches - 2 in the FA Cup, 2 in the NWFL Final and the FA Trophy.  IN addition we all went down to Buxton on the Saturday for the postponed Trophy match

Coincidentally, while researching CSC quarter-final games with Winsford & Warrington (yes, I'm a saddo ...) I discovered a tie that went to four games v Winsford in 1925-6 (Winsford won the 3rd replay 2-0). We played them twice in the CCL that season, of course, so that makes six games - there really is nothing new under the sun ...
