In the mid 70s the team used to come out to a version of the Match of the day theme - and the record skipped! I heard it so many times I half expect to hear the said skip whenever the programme starts even now.

Does anyone remember Alty's pre match DJ Neil Davies?

Yes, I remember him. He was definitely the DJ/match announcer during the 1977/78 and 1978/79 seasons. He even had his own namecheck jingles.

Didn't he used to live near to Ringway Golf Club?

I distinctly remember the brass band music of the mid 70's playing over the tannoy - specifically I can remember them playing - Those were the days my friend - a 1968 hit by Mary Hopkin - played by a brass band. Those were the very early days of me supporting the club. I also remember the grass banks behind the goal at the Chequers end, and where the CSH is now.
