Pitch Covers
« on: March 30, 2018, 10:32:39 PM »

See on main site they are asking for pledges to get pitch covers. Excellent idea. Hopefully it will be a success and they be ready for next season when we need them. It says  half pitch covers. Do they only cover half the pitch?

Need to set up a site which is like a fund raising site where people can contribute. I am happy to contribute but not ringing some bloody number to do it.

You can email a pledge, I am going to do that.

As you say Ollie a website would be better, need to make it as easy as possible for people to pledge.

I feel lazy but you have to keep it simple for people to do.

If the cause of the waterlogging is due to a high water table then I fail to see what good covers will do as the water will surely rise upwards as the water table rises.
Is it not a drainage solution we should be considering funding.

Covers would be good when it is frosty/snowing

Other work to alleviate the drainage problems is to be undertaken during the close season.

I think you've answered your own question with the use of the plural 'covers'. One cover for the whole pitch would be one hell of a size for one piece of material, so two covers is what is meant (I assume).

was there any discussion at the meeting about improving the drainage down the pop side and golf road ends? the article on the website only talks of the covers.

Fantastic news on the main site that the pitch covers are on order after the target was reached. Well done to all that contributed. The drainage will also be improved in the close season.

Hopefully less disruption next season.
