They're big, they're ugly, and they were in decent form after New Year's day with an unbeaten run of 9 yielding 21 points. They COULD still make the playoffs, but they had 3 straight defeats after that run, tellingly going down 2-0 at Warrington, and 4-1 at Grantham.

Those last two suggest that, with the benefit of a 6 day break, we should get the required win.

Agree, they will be horrible.

Think Hampson or White will start. No idea what is Harrops' injury but it's clearly nothing major. I'm glad Merrie acquitted himself well and it sounded like he could have easily have scored.

Why the low guesses on attendance? I think we could be pushing 1,000 on Saturday. We've not had less than 800 on a Saturday since September and with only a few games to go, it should bring a few more along.

Following tonight's games, the highest total any of our opponents can amass is 91. To achieve this Warrington would need 6 straight wins. And they're 28 behind on the goal difference. So if we get another 10 points, it's ours.

Three points from this game would mean just one more win and a draw. Let's get it won.

Warrington have some tough games, away at Farsley and Grantham, so a couple of wins, and we could be there....can’t believe it after watching two seasons of utter awful football. The Barwell game is massive for us.

Win this one, and Buxton......and we can clinch the championship at Shaw Lane with a third straight win. That would feel very apt !

I’d be very surprised if Warrington win at Farsley but unless I’ve got it wrong I think even if we win our next two we would still need at least another 2 points to be mathematically sure as Grantham can still get to 88 points (in practice 1 with our very good GD). I suspect it will be wrapped up at either Shaw Lane or possibly more likely Grantham.

spot on - and Ashton and Shaw Lane could theoretically reach 87pts (the max we could get by Tuesday) - goal difference wont officially count as a title decider until the final whistle on the last day - you never know Ashton could rack up a couple of 10-0's whilst winning all their remaining games! Interestingly the Football Webpages predicted final table has Grantham finishing 2nd on 82 pts ahead on goal difference from Warrington. Not sure it will be that straight forward but I think it will turn out that 84pts is enough. What a difference a week makes!
