Myriad thanks to the great man for the inestimable contribution that he has made on behalf of the club. He has given us a truly priceless archive.

Now his good wife Dana can teach him how to operate a main stand turnstile....

I cannot begin to estimate the number of hours John and Dana have spent researching and publishing the comprehensive news output on the site over those 18 years. It really has been a magnificent effort, to say the very least.

Always hated it when there was a planned break in the updates when the Laidlars took a well deserved holiday as the news updates are so much a part of the daily "routine"! :)

Thank you John and Dana for your many years of dedication!

A well-earned retirement for John but a sad day for Alty fans especially those of us who can't get to many games and depend on John's updates and reports to get our Alty fix.
I hope whoever takes over manages to maintain the uniqueness of the site to some extent.
So many sites are provided via identical templates which while they may have a professional and attractive veneer are so anodyne when you start to dig beneath the surface. The Alty site is a one-off with huge amounts of useful info.

Thanks John.

Happy retirement.

The content of our website is 2nd to none. The match updates was my favourite way of following the game if not there.

Big shoes to fill.

Thank you

I echo everything that has been said about John and his monumental efforts on the Club's behalf. I also hope that his successor(s) will ensure that the site does not lose its unique quality; slick and modern-looking is all very well but it's the content that counts, not the presentation. Too many club websites are too samey, too mass-produced. My university had as its motto "Do Different". I hope this watchword will hold good for our website in future.

Many thanks John. I too use the matchday updates when I'm not at games and will miss this hugely if it doesn't continue with someone else and I agree that the site is fantastic and hope it doesn't change too much under new control!

For years I have been only getting to 10-15 matches a season. John was my link with the club for around 40 games a season. John kept the Alty flame burning in my heart. The website made me feel closer and closer to the club. Simply irreplaceable

The website has been a great resource for news about Altrincham and non-League football more generally, so thanks to John for his tremendous. I know the website has also been used and appreciated by supporters of other clubs who favour content and substance.

Thanks John,  many years of great service and unparalleled commitment that has kept many of us in touch with the club and in my case is probably responsible for my support of the club as it was the arrival of the internet and the club website that enabled me to feel in touch with the club having left Altrincham aged 5.

Your contribution to the club has been amazing and I cannot thank you enough.
