John Askey leaves Macclesfield to take the Shrewsbury job. Not an easy man to replace.

Indeed. Not made any easier as he worked for free and the playing budget is £ 10.00 a month.

Wishing them all the worse.

Phil Parkinson 14/1. I would be devastated.
They had an unbelievable season under Askey but it would be a very hard job and will be a brave person to take the job this season

Plus PP is contracted and I think they will go a more well known name. That is not disrespecting Phil as I highly rate him.

I'd be surprised if they wanted Phil. Not a dig at him - things are going well and he has done everything asked of him so far. But looking at it on paper his main achievement has been guiding us to winning a league we never should have been in the first place. Our budget was, comparatively, enormous. If we have a very successful campaign next season I imagine there will be plenty of interest, but for the time being i can't see him stepping up to the football league.

100%. He’s the 11th favourite on that list & this season will be the first time he’s managed above Evostik level in his career. I doubt he would want to take the Macc job yet either, another good year next season and I’m sure they’ll be further enquiries but he’s not ready for FL level jobs yet.

Hopefully its come a year too early for pp , john  sheridan , steve watson or paul dickov could  be good shouts. Wouldn't surprise me if macc struggled and possibly even become the first club promoted to the league to go straight back down.

Mixed feelings here in Shropshire about the Arfer Askey appointment.

Macc won't go down that's just wishful thinking as China crisis said,a side who wins the conference at a canter will be fine.
