VICS BRING IN BOND AS CONSULTANT
« on: June 15, 2007, 12:32:05 PM »

From BBC Website

Vics bring in Bond as consultant

Former Manchester City and Birmingham boss John Bond is to work as a football consultant with Conference club Northwich Victoria.
Bond has been involved in the selection process of Northwich's new manager, who will be unveiled next Monday.

And the 74-year-old, who also managed Norwich, Burnley and Swansea, will stay on in an advisory capacity.

Vics chairman Mike Connett told BBC Sport: "John is going to be a consultant on football matters."

He added: "It's loose, but there is an arrangement and so whoever is in place (as manager) they know if they have got any problems they can talk to somebody who is the daddy of them all.

"I don't think you can get better than that."

Northwich's new manager has, according to Connett, previous experience across football up to Premiership level and is backed by the chairman to bring success to the Vics.

"We have got a manager who can take us, without doubt, into the Football League," Connett said.

The new manager, who succeeds Steve Burr, will be given backing to bring in new players to add to a squad which may lose defender Kieran Charnock and midfielder Michael Carr.

The England non-league international pair have triggered clauses in their contracts allowing them to seek a move.

Northwich are seeking a fee for the pair with Connett saying the club would not stand in the way of anyone seeking a League career.

I think they need James Bond to sort out the mess at The Victoria Stadium...

Could it be John Bond's son, Kevin?!

Incidentally, didn't Kevin Bond apply for the manager's job at Alty on at least one occasion a few years ago?

Will he be working from his base at that bookies on Hale Road bridge?

Another Alty lad infiltrates the Vics...the plan is working.

John Bond performed the same role at Witton Albion in the late 90s.

Please let the new Vics manager be the absolute barmpot that is Hale resident Kevin Tully.  :D

Old Kev Tulley - I played in the same kids team as Kev and it was certainly one of life's mysteries that he ever got a gig in the pro-game!!!

Funny you should say that because as soon as I read this somewhere I remembered that was the last place I saw him.
