Excellent interview as always.
Phil referred to Southport being full time but I have often wondered at our level and the level above what exactly does full time mean?
Clearly, you physically cannot train for 8 hours a day etc.
I guess that it should mean additional levels of fitness, strength and technical ability but that wasn't evident  on yesterdays second half Southport performance. In fact Altrincham's players looked the stronger and fitter as the game wore on and certainly technically better.
They were better than us at one thing though (cynically and dangerous fouling/tackling). Some of those challenges were disgusting IMO.
Maybe in the next league above where I guess maybe the bulk of the teams are full time then a part time team would struggle over 40 or so games, we may have to wait and see! SBL

I know at Wrexham it means 1 1/2 hours training each morning and a few sessions watching videos / tactics, up to players if they go to the gym etc.  Not that much i thought but i think its more about being able to gather players who have this as their full time role and no distractions.

I would think a big benefit of being full time is that players can recover better between games. If they have to get up and go to work every day in addition to playing football, it's not ideal.

The best part time players are much better than the worst full time. There are plenty of part timers with good jobs who can't afford to go full time at this level.
