I thought we celebrated diversity? Parkin is a big lad and a bit older but blimey - why give him all this grief? Not like we’ve had the odd big lad up front in the past?

Anyway - great day out, great ground, liked the home fans, and an absolutely fantastic goal. Best of the season.

Up the robins!

There’s being a big lad and then there’s taking the mick out of the people who pay your wages. In 30 years of watching us I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more clearly out of shape footballer. I think York are full time too, so god knows what he does in training. The comments he got from the away corner were mostly light hearted, certainly heard much worse in the past.

I remember the last time we played Gloucester they had a substitute who was equally well built. Can't remember his name, his touch was still there but his athleticism was long gone.

To return to Parkin for a moment, when I saw the number on his shirt (19) I did wonder whether it represented his place in York's pecking order, his weight in stones or the number of pies he'd had for lunch … Seriously, I was impressed by the management's immediate move to replace Jones with Sass-Davies and the way he then coped with the Incredible Bulk. What didn't impress me was the referee taking a good ten minutes to realise that Parkin's only response to not getting things his own way was persistent blatant fouling. At least when he did twig what the great lump was doing he penalized him consistently.
