Class player at non-league level. If my memory serves, in the League Cup semi home tie against Mossley in 1979 when we were 4-1 down and O'Keefe had run the show, didn't Stan Allan "take one for the team" and pick a fight with O'keefe and get them both sent off? We then proceeded to win 5-4! :)

I think I'm right in saying that the George Smith referred to in this excellent piece was the goalkeeper in the first Alty side I watched in 1968.

Indeed, O’Keefe was THE best non league player of that era and would beat you on his own. I actually bothered going to Old Trafford to watch him play for Everton a couple of years later.
Funny really that the two standout players at that time were O’Keefe and Mark Ward, both of whom have an ‘interesting’ story.
