Anyone going? I assume the trialists will get some game time to prove themselves.

My younger son Alex and I are going, maybe Chris my elder one is going too.

Looking forward to it, went to last week's game also, should also have a fuller squad as the likes of JJ and Jordan are back I think.

First real test of close season.

Esoteric statistical query for roytonmike...

How does that result rank in our list of heaviest defeats in pre-season friendlies?

Esoteric answer to esoteric question. As the Cult knows, my PSF records go back to 1963. I can offer 28.7.1997 Alty 1 Tranmere Rovers 5 and 1.8.1987 Worcester City 5 Alty 1, but nothing bigger in terms of a losing margin before this afternoon.

As a fitness exercise with regards to chasing the ball that was an ideal preparation.

Truth is we wont play anyone as near as good as crewe who played our sort of football and were much better and faster at it.

Think that friendly was too early for us to compete but good to face such stiff competition.

Without Jake we seemed to struggle in front of the back 4 which was my only concern.

I always get very over excited in friendlies when we play well and win and get told I should completely ignore pre season friendly results so on this occasion I wont get too over down hearted.

Think jezza sums it up perfectly. A good run run out with a very poor result. Not to worried though

A bit concerned at the lack of a second keeper today. I take it the big fella has gone and Drench is still injured.

Slightly concerned. Obviously Crewe are the fitter, full time prototype for how we play but they were only 12th in L2 last season & they’ve completely pulled our pants down today. Looking at the starting XI as well you can’t see it being markedly different when the real stuff kicks off in 3 weeks. Will be looking now at how we do vs Fylde & Stockport especially as I don’t expect we’ll get Blackpool’s first team next Saturday.

Fair points, but I don't think that you win prizes playing proper football in L2. It was obvious today that they're decent footballers but I doubt they can mix it on a wet Tuesday night at Port Vale. Not down-hearted about the result at all.

I would go much off that. Saturday's game wasn't advertised as Altrincham XXLLL v Crewe XXLV.
