The really worrying part of yesterday's debacle was that we made a VERY average Kidderminster side look competent. The degree to which Richman was missed in midfield is frightening - nobody else seemed able to put a foot in, make a real challenge for the ball, or simply compete. The way Simon plays means he's going to get some yellow cards in this league, particularly away from home, and might get two in a game as happened recently, but it's a risk we have to take in my view. Far too often we passed the ball out of play, or to red shirts, and Thompson's kicking from hand or from ground tends to test the resilience of stand seats or the roof more often than that of opposing defenders. On the plus side, Hemmings showed again that he has real quality, and at least the management have got the youth team keeper registered so we can have the essential cover on the bench. I'll be at Chester next Saturday - I don't like to miss Cup-ties & the walk alongside the canal is pleasant - but I'm not looking forward to the period between 3-5 p.m.

When things aren't going your way as a collective team then you need to forget about that, dust yourselves down a bit and start winning your individual battles. From there you may get an inspirational moment, be it a win in a 50/50 from Moult or an individual effort from Hulme that we can all feed off of. Too many of them went hiding unfortunately, which simply wouldn't happen at home. We've had so many fantastic days out away from Moss Lane over the past two seasons but they are quickly becoming very expensive chores.

I must say I'm surprised the substitutions of Hancock and Hulme haven't been mentioned on here. Taking your biggest goal threats off when two goals down looked like a bit of an authority stamping exercise from Phil in my view, as neither appeared to be injured.

Dreading Chester.

Bringing on those subs is sadly becoming a sign of us waving the white flag.

Hancock was having a really poor game. I would have hooked him earlier to be honest. I always feel that if he plays well, then we play well. The reverse seemed to be true on Saturday.

On present evidence Hemmings is a far better bet in the no. 10 shirt than Hancock. The latter is lightweight under any sort of challenge and on Saturday was finding the touchline or the opposition more often than his own teammates with passes. Hemmings is robust enough to compete and has a pleasing tendency to pass to members of his own side on a reasonably regular basis - which is more than could be said of quite a number of our players on Saturday. When things are working well for him Hancock can be an excellent player but at the moment it just doesn't seem to be clicking often enough for him; the same could, regrettably, be said of Johnston.
On the question of Densmore - he needs to be given the opportunity to get match sharp. How & where that can happen I don't know - he doesn't seem to feature in the management's thinking other than as a bench-warmer at the moment - but to be a realistic option he needs game time somehow, somewhere.

Bizarre comments about Hancock who, with Hemmings were a class above last home game. He is also returning to match fitness. For me there is 5 players who should always start and they are Hannigan, Hancock, Hemmings, Hulme and Ceesay.

I suspect the poor recruitment during the Summer has caused the kind of statements being made here, Mullarkey played ok against Leamington and should have kept his place, nobody should have their name on the team sheet including Hulme. The other teams are stronger than us this season, so we need strengthening, not putting the same players out. I am sure the manager knows this hence the signing of Hemmings, and Ceesay, but none should be guaranteed a place.

Just seen the full time robins video on youtube and noticed that when their second went in Hampson was still in their half.  how the hell can they score while our full back is still that far forward.  I'm not saying he was worse than anyone else because I wasn't there but there is no way he is ambling back while the opposition break at the end of last season - that attitude is a world away from last season and not acceptable

The second goal was scored just after we switched formation. So Hampson was playing left wing back at that point and looking to push forward. Hannigan was at left back...

Well then PP can share the blame for playing a formation where that was possible!

Quite so. By all accounts, changing the formation at Southport didn’t work and at Kiddie, it led to the team completely falling apart.
