They were utterly woeful, not a Conference standard team on that evidence. If we’d repeated the 6-0 from last season it genuinely would not have flattered us. Saying all that our finishing was really poor, high and wide or straight down their keepers throat, how we ultimately only scraped a 1-0 doesn’t reflect well on us.

BUT, they’d won quite a few at home recently and we kept a clean sheet, completely dominated the game and have our first away league win of the season so it’s all positive.

Not sure what the attendance was but we definitely had the majority, ground decent enough if somewhat soulless and for a new build ground the bar being a portakabin is not great. If we are going to that neck of the woods then Stalybridge or Hyde feel a lot more proper to me.

602 gate, we must have had 350+.

Full Time Robins has 380 Alty there.

How good was that pitch? Considering they have had the same weather as us yet played a lot more games on it I'd say excellent. If we are going to progress one of the things that needs being done is sort out the drainage bogey once and for all.

Agree with all of the above. We need to be more clinical. I found myself laughing at some of our efforts which on reflection wasn't funny at all.  I would also like Max to play the game instead of the referee. That way he might get to start a game.

My patience is wearing thin with Max.

I think Max Harrop is one of those players who needs games - 10-15 minutes here and there isn't keeping him match fit. For all his idiosyncrasies, he is a very skillful player and a decent goal threat from midfield. PP seems to favour Williams who is solid but drives us sideways as much as forward.

Williams doesn't create any danger. Sure he can keep the ball and pass it to someone who might, but I want to see him carve open a space and get some decent shots in. When James Poole got the ball in the same positions you got the feeling a goal might be scored any moment.

Agreed that Max is a bit of a loose cannon and Williams is more organised and reliable. I'm not saying Max is the answer but I do think we don't have the same cutting edge with Willo in the team, running the game or not. I assume he's working to instruction as he has a good shot on him and his goal rate before he rejoined us was pretty good, albeit at a lower level.

Williams is having a very good season.

You should be OK at this level if Hulme, JJ, Hancock and another ( Ceesay, Peers, Walker etc )are all on their games.

With Moult so deep you sort of need a warrior type player like Willo. Very hard to find a warrior and creative midfielder at this level.

If Max was more disciplined in his play, temper and positioning and released the ball at the right time then he would be that all round mid but he isn't and our record with him starting isn't great.

Main problem at present is poor finishing, the sooner Josh starts hitting the target again we will fly up the table.

This, in a nutshell, is it.
