Will the season be null and void ? unlikely with around  3/4 of the fixtures played. Will the  remaining games be payed? I doubt it .What will happen with promotion places?Let the top two go up ?

Here's an idea for promotion in our league:

Take the top eight teams and let each of the other 14 clubs vote for the final standings of the top eight.  1st gets automatic promotion and 2-7 gets play off places to be played as soon as possible.

If everybody plays three games a week from mid April to early May it'll work. Providing, of course, that the crisis is over a month from now.

Worst case scenario...

Scrap all cup and European games.

Pools panel adjudication on all remaining league games.

Season ends.

Clears up in next six weeks of so.

Scrap play offs and European games.

League games squashed in a bit.

Cup, vase and trophy if possible.

Top two up / down.

Season ends

Personally I would be happy to watch footy in June if it came to it.

3 games is far to  much personally Iwould be happy to watch footy in June if it came to it

Can't we why not. It would act as a tester to see if summer footy works or not.

It’s all a total guess at this stage but mine, for what it’s worth, is that we’ll finish this season sometime in the late summer or autumn, take a short break then play a curtailed season (maybe only playing each team in the league once?) to get us back to normal for the 21/22 season.

If the season IS declared null and void, there will be some big winners and losers. Liverpool - well that’s just hilarious, but conversely reprieves for the likes of Stevenage and BPA. And what would happen to Macclesfield’s points deduction? If in effect the games are chalked off, then can they be deemed to have defaulted?

I can see five options for the league to take: carrying on with the season as normal (as soon as possible), implementing an average points system, top two and bottom two up/down, voiding the season, or some sort of combined/cumulative two year season that goes into 20/21.  I would rank these options as follows in order of preference for the club (presuming the ultimate goal is promotion this season):

1. League carries on (chance of 2nd/3rd)
2. Average points, play offs played ASAP (home tie in the play off quarter finals)
3. Cumulative season into 20/21 (at lest it helps our chances of promotion next year)
4. Voided season/ top two, bottom two (doesn't help promotion next year)

If an average points system is implemented, this is how the top eight will be ranked:

1. Kings Lynn (2.06)
2. York (1.94)
3. Boston (1.81)
4. Brackley (1.78, 34GD)
5. Altrincham (1.78, 22GD)
6. Chester (1.69)
7. Gateshead (1.68)
-------------------------------------
8. Spennymoor (1.58)

This would mean we played Chester at home in the play-offs sometime in the summer (would be interesting) and if we won, would face a trip to York.

2 points:

If the season has to continue (at our level) after the normal end of season will we have the players?. Many contracts end in May and many players will also have arranged holidays.

If any final league positions are decided by committee there will be every chance of legal action and compensation claims from clubs that feel hard done by. This could be costly and I doubt any new season could start until the legal claims have been finalised.

Either the end part of the season will have to be severely condensed with multiple games a week or the season will be deemed null and void - teams rewarded on their current positions - and we start from scratch again next Autumn.

No resolution is entirely satisfactory to anyone in all honesty.

I can't see things being sorted out by autumn.

At the moment the official number of carriers is around a 1000 but in reality its likely to be higher. Experts say that every case will pass it on to three others so that means 3000 by next Saturday, 9000 the Saturday after then 27K, 78K etc. There's 60 million of us so it's going to take a fair while before this has run its course.

Meanwhile the government is trying to slow down the rate of it spreading but isn't prepared to do the total lockdown like they've got in China, Italy etc. so don't hold your breath.

The chairman of Rochdale was on TV saying they will be in trouble if they don't play their remaining home games. I think they're a well run club so it's going to get very messy. Lots of club in a worse position financially than they are.

I've seen Chester fans have set up a site for non-season ticket holders to donate money towards the club which isn't a bad idea.

This is quite a radical suggestion.

We close down the season immediately (all leagues). No promotion or relegation.

When things settle down sufficiently, we merge the outstanding fixtures with a full season's matches, so that we have a double season. When it's all over, promotion and relegation can proceed.

The major drawback is whether some of the clubs will survive the hiatus (Macclesfield are an obvious example) and the records of these teams' games would need to be expunged.

It needs something like that but I can't see Liverpool being happy about it.
