I agree with SBL.

The weird play once only season should count for titles, the cups would remain valid, but no promotion or relegation. That's a season of stock taking, cooperation and thankfulness.

Have they even decided how they redress the imbalance in the National League, given that two are going up and one coming down?

I assume the plan at the AGM would have been to reprieve fourth from bottom, and send the imbalance down to Step 2 (47 clubs given the restructure), which I suppose gives one team the chance to choose which side they're in.

One thing I did think would be good fun - across all levels - would be the following:

Split the teams into 4 groups of 6 (assuming we'll be running with 24 teams next season), with a seeded draw based on eventual league positions (1st-4th = pot 1, 5-9th = pot 2 etc).

Play a mini-league system, which would account for 10 fixtures from New Year to spring.

Top 2 go into an 8-team knockout with winners of A playing runners up B, usual tournament format etc - either two-legged or one-off games at the home of the group winner, whatever.

Two-legged semis, and a final at a neutral venue to determine one promotion spot for the shortened season.

How about (if we can't finish this season) no promotions or relegations...

Start the league with BPA on zero points
Blyth on 3 pts
Kettering 12
Gloucester 13
...
Alty 37
up to
York 46 pts

so we have a new season with this season's point taken into account

Personally, what I would do is start next season in late October/November and aim to finish by May, finishing off all games that weren't played this season first before running through another set of fixtures in which each team plays each other once, the ground that it is played at would be selected randomly.

In fairness, most of these ideas are far more leftfield than simply voiding the season and starting again at the usual time, sadly.

i don't think a points per game system is very leftfield.

Let the chairman's in the league have one vote each on who should go up and who should go down and they can not vote for their own teams.

Hell's teeth, anything but that!

It has horrible echoes of the dreaded old pals' act practised by the chairmen of Football League clubs back in the dark days of re-election which unjustly denied us promotion from the Alliance Premier League in 1979/80 and 1980/81.
