Just watching "The Big Match Revisited" on ITV4. Between the two main games, they showed the winning goal from Tranmere v Chester, an own goal where Tranmere's centre half lobs the ball back to keeper Dick Johnson. Unfortunately he's some way off his line......

I recall that erratic goalkeeper John Wood as being the original bearer of the nickname 'Teflon' back in the dispiriting 1975/76 (Les Rigby) season.

A few years after leaving Alty, didn't he get sent off whilst playing against us in a friendly for throwing a punch at John Rogers?

That rings a faint bell. John Wood might just pip Andrew Dawber for the "Worst Ever Alty Keeper" award.

I recall John Wood going up to punch a ball away, missing, but only enough for the ball to run along his arm, over his shoulder and into the net :)
