Can we play the reserves (perhaps augmented by 'squad' players now we're in the National? I know league teams like Crewe and Tranmere can.

I can't believe they're even holding this tournament. Complete waste of time and resources.

In the past this completion was quite prestigious. In todays world IMO its a total waste of time. Nobody it really interested except the Cheshire FA. Its totally out dated,  means nothing and a total waste of time. IMO of course. SBL

We have this exact conversation year after year. I normally quite enjoy it as a fun little diversion and a chance to see some reserves play. This year? We can do without.

I was wondering the other day if this competition would go ahead, and decided the Cheshire FA would be too arrogant to give it a miss.

If ever there was a time to give this competition a miss then this was it!

As the crowd for this competition will not exceed 500 it might be the only one that gets completed

I hope the football team are as much fun as Barnton's cricket tea,.

I once got fined playing for Bowdon against them for a catch I had taken (for the after game beer, of course!)

They said it was a very good catch and they didn't begrudge such a good catch...It was just that when I caught it my team mates gasped and said, "Oh my God, he actually caught it!"

I also scored with a girl from their club...during a 2nd XI game!

Well, we started off in the score box in the corner of the ground, but it was far too hot so we scored on the grass in front of it so we could still change the numbers!

Alty's team for the cscsf (2nd leg) v Macc, 90-91: Wealands, Miller, Wiggins, Rolo, Rooney Reid, Shaw, Daws, Brady, Hughes, Showler. Those were the days! Only two changes in the next weeks match against Barnet - no wonder we flagged! Although Barnet spending the best part of a hundred grand on reinforcements for the run in probably didn't help. The signing of Carter from Runcorn for 40,000 pounds (I think) seems to stick in the memory for some reason.

Speaking for myself, I've always rather liked the Cheshire cup - plenty of local derbies, the tradition (one of the oldest footy comps in the world) and I still say a final against Macc would be a good occasion, certainly if we won.

We also played Macc twice in the cup that season - presumably the time when Kingy didn't know if there would be a penalty in the replay!

Was it 69/2?
