Lockdown
« on: October 31, 2020, 07:47:57 PM »

Premier league will continue, but will we be able to play during the latest shambles?

Do we count as "Elite*"

*Not sure Dover do with their behaviour today!

In fairness, though classless, 'Pool had the decency to explain their understandable reason, which I take as a complement to Alty FC

Judging by tonight's annihilation that philosophy has more holes in it than Swiss cheese ☹️

I suppose admitting you’re a bit of a t*at is being honest, but at the end of the day you’re still a bit of a t*at. Parky’s point was that sort of thing is something he wouldn’t do. Alty do have a bit of class agreed.

Does Swiss cheese always have less than five holes then? :)

Am I right to understand, then, that Ilkeston (for example) are going from a tv cup tie in front of 400 passionate supporters (because 600 would have been too dangerous obviously) to not being allowed to play at all? There go my plans for a bit of real football then. Unless anyone fancies a kickaround. (I had a great kickaround once with some of the lads, me and Jo in "Wembley" doubles, though we were both getting a bit unfit by then tbh. Those were the days...)

That's certainly how I read it - nothing doing below National League North/South. I'm not sure if/how this affects FA Cup/Trophy. You really have to feel for South Shields in particular.

Non-elite is tier 7 & below of football pyramid ie step3 & below of non-league system...

Whereas Elite teams are top6 divisions ie Prem, Championship, Div1, Div2, Non-Lge National Div (Conference eg Alty), plus div below ie National Lge Div North/South... Hence clubs where no fans been allowed so far...

The leagues below elite system are those classed as 'non-elite' and upto now been allowed nominal crowds of circa 200-400 max eg Trafford, Atherton Colleries, Ramsbottom, etc...

It would appear govt may stop games at non-elite level - awaiting confirmation asper attached link... so nothing officially been decided yet...

HOWEVER, if stop these clubs it would be impact on FA Cup as think media said nine 'non-elite' had made 1st rd so what happens there? Kicked out Cup & opponents go through? Surely not...

Hopefully govt will let lower lge (non-elite) clubs continue to play & with small crowds so footy fans can see some football in person to help clubs & wellbeing/mental health of fans...

Guess will be clarification probably on Monday...

Here's FA view at present after govt lockdown announcement... basically await more info before making decision about lower league football...

https://www.thefa.com/news/2020/oct/31/covid-19-update-311020

Whereas Elite sport/football will continue...

Update... the FA & Govt had announced all FA Cup ties can go ahead including the nine matches involving 'non-elite' clubs...

See attached link below...

https://www.thefa.com/news/2020/nov/02/emirates-fa-cup-first-round-update-021120

NB the govt has still to advise if normal 'non-elite' football matches can go ahead... maybe a further anouncement later...

In meantime, both FA Trophy & FA Vase draws were still made today with dates to be confirmed at later date...

It’s amazing to think that if we were where we were when Parky took over it’d be curtains down on Thursday. 😔 🙁 ☹️

Further Update to above...

Appears non-elite football (bar clubs involved in this weekend's FA Cup ties) will be stopped for a period of 28 days from Thurs as PM sadly states in below link...

Ollie Bayliss (@Ollie_Bayliss) Tweeted: BREAKING:

Boris Johnson “I bitterly regret that we have to curtail for 28 days (non-elite) football clubs”. https://t.co/UXq1rpPH3q https://twitter.com/Ollie_Bayliss/status/1323316737807437826?s=20

Just how many clubs will fold?

I fear the worst and it is tragic - so many clubs so important to towns and townsfolk!
