Wright and Mooney need fitness tests on Thursday, Ceesay needs his hamstrings stretching and the rest have got broken bones and will be out for at least a month.  >:(

A bit of a mixed bag then.

In defence it sounds like both Sutton & White will be available imminently but Mullarkey out for a while yet. In midfield ditto Richman & Williams with no set timescales on their returns yet but Mooney should be available perhaps tomorrow but if not for Bromley on Saturday. Up front sounds like Ceesay came off as a pre-caution with his hamstrings at Wealdstone so will be fine for tomorrow but Adarabioyo could be 2-3 weeks perhaps.

The high number of contact injuries was partly ascribed to the step up in physicality in this  league but also the very fair point that we have done a ridiculous amount of travelling recently & that coupled with the two week Covid lockdown when the players couldn’t train properly or go to the gym set us back.

Update - here is a summary of all injuries (courtesy of the old Alty website The Alty Files)...

1) Sean Williams, who had a floating piece of bone in the back of his ankle before he joined Altrincham; results are awaited from an MRI scan. He is still "weeks" away from playing.
2) Toby Mullarkey was originally injured in pre-season at Alfreton; fracture in his lower leg has been identified and he has three more weeks in a boot and then will need to regain fitness.
3) Simon Richman was fouled at Hartlepool; his scan found a chip in his lower leg bone, like Toby Mullarkey. He has an appointment at a fracture clinic.
4)Andy White has an ankle problem from Hartlepool game, has needed pain killers. Not long=term possibly ready next Saturday
5) Fisayo Adarabioyo was one of the three players injured at Wealdstone last Saturday. He rolled his ankle which affected his posterior ligament. He will be a few weeks out of action.
6) Ritchie Sutton suffered a quad strain which is not too severe.
7) Yusifu Ceesay; his was a precautionary withdrawal from the game with a tight hamstring issue.
8. Dan Mooney was injured in pre-season at Nantwich; originally he had severe ankle ligament issues, which were on the mend before the Covid issue disrupted the team's training. He will have a fitness test for Wednesday's game.

Two requirements tonight. A win and no more injuries. Both equally important.

Many thanks to the club for providing this. What a wretched run of bad luck - we surely need some more players for the next week or two at least.

Ceesay's hamstring again - hope that's not going to be a constant.

Yes White, too used to typing my own name.

There was quite a long explanation about Ceesay's hamstrings. It's to do with his exceptionally long stride. Extra leverage to make things go twang!

Grim. Just terribly unlucky.

Definitely there’s an element of misfortune involved. But surely a big factor in our sudden injury list (after 3 years of relatively good luck on the injury front) has to be that the majority of our squad has now essentially played, or trained, continuously for the past 16 months – since reporting for pre-season way back in June 2019.
The prolonged 2019/20 season turned out great for us, but an extended injury list now is perhaps an unavoidable consequence, and something we will probably need to live with this season as 16 months becomes 17 months, becomes 18 months… etc.

Thankfully we’ve made a decent start to the season this time round (allowing for the home-away split), as these points could be vital at the back end of the season if the injuries do continue. The next week will be important too, starting tonight, with 3 home games against sides that all represent a great opportunity to get some more early points on the board.

This league places much higher physical demands on the players, we found that in the past, surely this must be the primary reason and why a lot of NL clubs have bigger squads tha ours.
