Included in the minute's applause at Wembley tonight played three games for Altrincham in 1967. Pretty sure the A & P Quixall scrap metal business that was on Brown St for many years was his.

If my memory serves me correctly, Albert started that business in partnership with the legendary Freddie Pye.

The Sheffield Wednesday website has an obituary of Albert Quixall, which mentions us, as well as a gallery of images.

My first season of watching football at Old Trafford in 1958 with the team rebuilt including Albert. The old first division was still very much a working class domain. 1/6d (7.5p) to go in the Stretford End Paddock. Just roll up, queue and go in. No prima donnas in those days. More akin to a non league atmosphere. Before the days, starting in the sixties, when hooliganism raised it’d ugly head and top level football lost its way as the game of the people. Thank goodness for Alty and thr real thing. RIP Albert.

There was definitely an A & P Quixall down the bottom of Brown  St . May well have been the same premises but later on. Pollitt and Pye used to have ads at Hale Cinema.

Yeah, I used to take my scrap to Quixalls in the 80's on Brown Street down by the bend in the road.
