This 4141 Phil's deploying to see out games is proving effective - we looked really solid.

It's been so long since Shaun Densmore played in Centre Midfield for us, you could be forgiven for forgetting he's really rather good at it - he was absolutely magnificent tonight.

This is the standard I was hoping to see from Phil team at this level.

We didn't hoof, we played our football, and we looked like scoring goals.

Smith seems to be bringing it all together, allowing Hancock and Moult to do their jobs.

Kosylo and Senior are a joy to watch.

Tom playing his part again of the bench. (this isn't a dig. Tom is a solid option from the bench. We won and seen out 5 games out of 5 where Tom's been in that position)

Marvellous stuff.

The only times that we looked vulnerable were via crosses from set pieces and corners but, thankfully, they contrived to squander at least four free headers.

A good, solid, professional away performance though and we do retain possession well.

If we ever do sign a striker, we'll be frightening!

I note that the match ball sponsor was Wrexham-born Andy Scott, the guitarist with The Sweet. However, the only blockbuster tonight came from the head of Richie Sutton.

I’ve got to admit I was a tad anxious about this game. My fears were largely unfounded. There was only one team out there who were desperate and they were in red. We dealt reasonably well with all they had to offer and gave them some headaches in return. I think it gradually dawned on them that this wasn’t the sort of game they should be winning against some part time numpties. Whilst we’ve played more games than everyone, the teams playing catch up will involve matches against each other. I’m convinced we will fare better than I first envisaged, especially when we are nearer to injury free. COYR.

Last week I travelled on the train from London with Sutton on their way to Wrexham.  They got trounced, picked themselves up and this week won 1-0!!!

I wasn't too optimistic about this game, and that seemed justified at the start as Wrexham, who had obviously seen some match videos, went all out to get an early goal. However, we weathered that storm, and, in the second half, managed the game very well and finished the stronger team.

I can remember us being high up in the Conference early in the first season after promotion in the 2005-06 season. Is this our highest position since then?

We haven't finished in the top half since the 90s, as far as I can recall - happy to be corrected on that.

I'm pretty sure first season back in 05-06 resulted in the James Robinson affair - and the first of three consecutive reprieves (although we'd actually stayed up on merit the first time round but for the points reduction).

We actually had a couple of solid finishes after that, until some key players (Young, Senior) were cherry picked from us - we still nearly stayed up until the Eastbourne debacle on the final day.

We haven't had a top half final position since 1994-95, you are right, but I was really asking about our position at any point in the season. I think we were 4th or 5th after a good start in September 2005.
