Joe Neenan's knee met John King's groin; John Davison calmly tucked away the resulting penalty and an appearance at Anfield to face the reigning First Division Champions in the FA Cup Third Round duly beckoned.

He was from Partington. I don't know where he went to school but I have known somebody of the same age from Partington who went to BTH as the nearest Roman Catholic secondary modern (or whatever the term may have been then) so it looks very likely.
