Even when we're at home we're away. All logical, but underlines the pitch issue requires major capital investment not maintenance, imho should take priority over ground redevelopment if a choice has to be made spend wise.

I'm sure the club will be investing in the pitch next close season, it wasn't possible in the one just past. However the rain over last few days in Altrincham has been torrential. Seems a fair resolution to swap and behind close doors.

Pitch needs sorting properly, whether it costs 60k or 600k.

If it's 600k to 'fix the pitch' with no guarantee it'll work long term we'd be looking at a new ground.

Its not the pitch its the water underneath. The solution doesn't need to be that complicated or expensive. just give the water somewhere to go.

If the water table is the issue then can we raise the pitch a foot or so above surrounding so it can drain out of the playing surface. I remember Luton’s pitch being 3 feet above the ground level of the stand behind it. We wouldn’t need anything that extreme. Would that work?  Small retaining wall and admittedly quite a lot of top soil but shouldn’t be hideous price wise

I was being facetious with the pricing, but we can't keep accepting these issues.

Not if the goal is to play in the league.I

New ground seems more acceptable than a plastic pitch.

A plastic pitch still needs draining properly.

Surely no-one is entertaining the idea of leaving Moss Lane.

spot on. Sort the pitch before any stadium redevelopment. If the fan zone (which is a great idea) hasn’t been started yet put that next in the queue.

I'm as ambitious as the rest of the Alty faithful and would love to see us rise further up the leagues but I honestly can't foresee Moss Lane ever being too small for us.

Like was put forward not so long back, perhaps the answer might be a covered drainage ditch along the popular side feeding into a sump at the corner from where the water could be pumped away.

Aside from all the very fair comments on the pitch, I do think we are more likely to win at their ground with a better pitch & our away record so don’t think switching it when it’s BCD makes any difference.
