Those of you of a certain vintage may remember George Melling, a member of the 2005 squad.

Whilst flicking through TWITTER I have discovered that he has been diagnosed with MND.

My principal memory of him is that he played at right full back in the Nationwide North play-off victory at Kettering in May 2005.

Terrible
Think he was a steel erector based up in Preston. Big lad who played his part towards the back half of that promotion season

Always did a good job for us. Only drawback was a bit of a lack of pace.
He must still be early forties. Shocking news.

That's very sad news and  I wish him all the best.
I saw him still playing for Longridge Town only a few years ago, so I am quite shocked to read this. He was  a good, reliable player for us.

Awful news. You have to feel  for him and his family
I hope he can take inspiration from the courage of dear Mark Maddox

I believe that he spent a fair time at Kendal Town, becoming something of a cult figure.

Today's the anniversary of his debut for us in the FA Trophy win vs Barrow in 2005.
