Hartlepool Match Thread
« on: March 07, 2021, 11:52:59 AM »

So today is the 12mth anniversary since the last fans match at Moss Lane... great 4-1 win over Spennymoor... missing footy experience... i did go the Nantwich away pre-season friendly in Sept, but it all seems so long ago...

On Tuesday eve we go again v Hartlepool... our last match brought an end to a bad run of results as our 10men gained a hard fought win with new faces and the return of some injured... assume the team maybe quite similar bar maybe Mooney or Hancock returning & obviously a replacement for suspended Hannigan... also assume three loanees will start again (Ogle & Zouma were great, Gibson less so - finding a 20goal plus striker is still a priority)...

We seem to play better against top teams and Hartlepool went joint top yesterday after winning at top team Torquay...

Predicted Team:
                             TT
Senior  Mullarkey  Zouma  Ogle
                  Moult      Smith
        Mooney    Kosylo   Colclough
                          Gibson
Subs- Connor,  Richman,  Ceesay, Hancock,  Peers

Predict: Alty 2-1 win (Kosylo & Gibson)... but draw ok...

Looking forwatd to game... hope stream will be ok...

COYR!   ....Any thoughts?

Agree with the starting 11,but I'd have Hardy on the bench

I'd recall Andy Windsor and play him as our centre forward in the hope that he could reproduce another stunning piledriver resembling the thunderous shot that he unleashed in the 2-0 FA Cup First Round victory over Hartlepool at Moss Lane back in November 1973.

Still one of the most exhilarating Alty FA Cup goals that I have been privileged to witness.

We should get Brian Flynn and John Henderson back as ball boys for the occasion, too.

Yes l was at that match and if l remember correctly it was 0-0 at halftime and we had played well, facing into a very strong wind and defending the Golf Rd end.
In the second half obviously we had the wind at our backs and when Andy whacked the ball in it is still probably the sweetest strike l have ever seen. It was a goal the instant it left his foot. He was so far out l think he was somewhere near the train station when he let fly.

Woking had just beaten Torquay as well. Didn't we jolly nearly win at Hartlepool?

Indeed. Pools keeper made a very good penalty save from Kosylo in time added on at the end of the game to deny us all three points.

These are the types of games we seem to really enjoy this season. Expecting a strong performance and with a bit of luck a positive result.

For the first time this season i would like to see a centre forward have a real impact on the game.

Really looking forward to tonight's game... can again test ourselves against one of the top clubs... had some decent results against higher teams... hoping for another win...

Plus hoping stream works whole match...

Keeper not made a save second half yet?

They defended well and are a good team. We lacked a finisher AGAIN. We'd probably have lost 11 v 11. Oddly though, I feel we blew 4 points v Pools this season.
