Dover got off very lightly financially, and I hope they are allowed to stay in the National as that would make them relegation certs!

they should be made to pay every club that has travelled down to Dover their full costs of transport, wages and accomodation!

Dover's appeal can only be an attempt on their part to be removed from the National League as my understanding this ruling is after referral to an independent body? They took unilateral action to stop playing despite all other 22 members of the Division continuing to play on after a vote, including those whose preference was not to continue. You either want to be a member of a club and accept its member's democratically arrived at decisions or you don't.

At the heart of all of this is how a large number of National League member clubs seemed to be under the impression that Govt support was always going to be in the form of grant funding. Given that the 2nd major tranche of support transpired to be primarily loans, but also means tested, suggests that this was never a given. Could it be that Nat League chairs were just a bit too complacent?

This saga still has a way to go.

In fairness grants were only ever promised for the first part of the season. There was always going to be doubts over further funding.

They often cite the integrity of the competition - but what sort of integrity will they have left when they're expunging Dover's results AGAIN this time next season - but because they've gone bust, having handed every team in the league a walkover up to that point?

Just place them in the South FFS. At least give their fans a chance of enjoying some football next season.

If they're desperate to get to 24 clubs in each division, they can so easily sort it out the year after - 4 up 2 down, then only send the bottom club down in North/South whilst sending all 8 from the feeder leagues up. Net gain of 6 clubs across the NL system, job done.
