I've found an earlier one. Not a Saturday but still:

Not sure why it was a midday kick-off - police advice presumably?

Yep, u were right - found this in Alty Files Archive News from July 2008 (pan down to look under date of 26th July 2008 - article titled 'High Noon')... it is a Bank Holiday & despite other matches ko 3pm police advice made us ko at noon...

http://www.altrinchamfc.co.uk/alt0708l.htm

'It has been confirmed that the Altrincham v Wrexham match on Bank Holiday Monday has been moved to a noon kick off on police advice.

Fans visiting Moss Lane this season will notice a difference at the away end, where the block of apartments pictured above is rising behind the Carole Nash & Family End. There can't be many flats with a better view of a football pitch than these!'

Surely Brian Flynn should have remembered this as looking at match report you posted he appears to have been the match sponsor for this match... :)

Wasn't that the time Wrexham brought about 1600 on the bank holiday? I suppose 1000 Wrexham fans getting drunk in Manchester and then rolling up at ML wouldn't have been a very good idea.

Still the most impressive away support I've seen at Alty. They were singing on 3 sides as I remember, and fortunately rather better behaved then some supporters of a neighbouring club.

You may well be right Hugh... found these articles from Wrexham Archive and Alty Archive (Alty one pan down to 29th August for 'Mutual Praise')...

https://www.wrexhamafcarchive.co.uk/matchdetails.php?id=231

http://www.altrinchamfc.co.uk/alt0809a.htm

One article says Crowd 2619 (Away 1700 fans)... other says over 1600 away fans... eitherway recall lots of Wrexham fans at Moss Lane that day...

The tragic circumstances allows me to watch the first half!

Glad to hear that you will now be able to catch the first half of the Sutton United game but I don't think that the peaceful death of a privileged 99-year-old man warrants the term 'tragic'.

Ooh. I thought JD was being a bit ironic using 'tragic'.
