Who would have thought the day would ever come....
« on: September 13, 2021, 11:30:07 AM »

....when both of our deadly rivals would crash out of the FA Vase at the first attempt ? West Didsbury & Chorlton got through though, so congratulations to them, and also to Wythenshawe Town (who won 6-0 away).

However, the result that catches the eye has to be :

St.Martins 0 Hinckley 18

Perhaps Macc and Vics can take scant consolation that they only lost by the odd goal !

When are Wythenshawe Town playing Macc? Should be an interesting one. And have Macc managed to turn even going bust to their advantage?

I can never understand how teams can be bad enough to lose by scores like 18-0.

It seems that St Martins lost their manager and a load of players a week before this game. Similar to what happened to Alsager Town when we beat them 12-1 in a Cheshire Cup SF.

Can't recall the date, but it clashes with one of our home games.

October 9th at Ericstan Park, which, yes, is when we are at home to Maidenhead.

Talking of deadly rivals, it was Hinckley LR  (formerly Leicester Road) who beat St Martins 18-0 on Saturday.  They play Hinckley AFC in the next round. Both clubs are spin-offs from Hinckley United, with LR keeping the ground and directors, but AFC keeping most of the supporters despite groundsharing outside the town. Supposedly, relations between the two clubs are not good at all, although as an outsider, you would think that the two clubs should surely merge.

It's like the Vics all over again.  Very messy.

On the subject of Northwich-based teams, I see Witton got rinsed 9-0 at Matlock last night !

Cor blimey! And we think we have it bad...

And to think that Witton had a pretty handy Conference team at one time! I remember Jo (God rest him) once talking about some of the talent they used to have.
