Vaccine passports for Wales from October!
« on: September 18, 2021, 08:26:44 PM »

So far as I can tell, it won't affect us for now unless we draw a Welsh team away in the third round of the FA Cup.

Still, it seems likely that the "English" Government's plan B will be used at some point, with "Vaxports" an option which may then be used. If the same criteria were used as in Wales, the Stockport match at home, and certain away matches could potentially be affected.

The "English" government are now doing a "consultation" on the government's "plan B", including vaxports for sporting events, if the NHS comes under "unsustainable pressure" from Covid. Since the NHS seems to be in crisis every Winter, one might suspect that here is a fair chance of this plan being tried at some point. No details of specifics yet, but we know what they are trying in Wales, which included vaxports for standing events with more than 4,000 people as I recall, which, as I say, might affect our home match with Stockport. There will apparently be no alternative of a negative test result or proving natural immunity, and if current trends continue, that could mean over 10% of the (known) adult population, plus friends and dependents who would not go without them being excluded from ML. Of course, the number will not be evenly spread, and may affect a disproportionately small number of people who watch Alty - but, by the same token, it is likely to exclude a disproportionately large number of poor people and ethnic minorities, leading some people to brand the proposals as a form of apartheid.
