Perhaps with the Cup Draw being televised by ITV tomorrow we might break our run of away fixtures.

Dreadful game.

Whoever we get wont be as direct and basic as Southport, hope never to play them again

Deserved win in the end. We didn’t start particularly well and let them get on top in the early stages, when we did manage to break away we gave the ball away carelessly. Their 1st goal was deserved accounting for all the pressure they had been putting us under, especially from long throws. Then Peersy scored from almost nothing (good through ball possibly from Jackson?) and then a great near-post header from Hanks. Second half we were more accomplished and kept the ball better. A very well worked third goal. We generally dealt well with their long throws (Hannigan, Sutton and Moult were immense in the centre, Peers did some good defensive work as well). Their third goal was well worked but after that we kept them at bay pretty well.
Have they narrowed their pitch on purpose to facilitate hoof-ball and percentages? If so, pretty embarrassing.

Try not to be disparaging. They played the game to suit their strengths and pushed us all the way.
Will have been a good heads up with a few learning points today with Borehamwood and Solihull Moors (who play that way only better) in the next few games.

I was quite disappointed by our display for much of today's game. I know there were loads of personnel changes but we really didn't seem to get going until the start of the second half. How we were ahead at half time is beyond me!

Hanks' goal was clever, Kosy was a constant thorn in their side and Tom Hannigan was a rock, but it looked like we were doing our best to play to Port's only strength - the long throw (seriously, how many did they have?)

Hopefully for Southport, their new coach (with ex-Crewe experience) can completely alter the way they play football. He can start with that embarrassingly narrow pitch. They all work very hard but are being seriously impaired by the loathsome approach they deploy.

We march on and hopefully we'll have one or two defenders back for our next outing.

They're an anti- football side and have been for the last 15 years.

How they get any repeat home fans is beyond me

I know a few who have turned away from the club. It's a shame. I've always seen them as an equal club to us. Like I say though, I hope the new coaching appointment can help them. Their surface is lovely; they just need to learn to use it. Their fans know all this already.

With regards Marcus Carver. Clearly, their directness plays to his strengths, but notwithstanding (as Marple said) he'd probably be an upgrade on our 9 options. It doesn't look like Dinganga is flavour of the month right now.

Poor game; the scoreline suggests it was closer than it was when, in reality, we didn’t get out of second gear and still never looked like losing.  The difference between the two teams compared to the last time I saw us play there was huge.

He seems a sensible sort. I thought I'd look at the Conference North table to confirm what a capable chap he is.😂😂😂

On a serious note, given all the recent publicity about the long term debilitating affects of heading a football should their tactics be at least questioned by the powers that B? SBL
