Graham Heathcote on ClubCall NOW!!!!

Also Graham gives his guarded views on the Crawley situation stating that the situatiuon will not change until relegation is introduced as a penalty rather than a points deduction.

Heathcote is spot on. I have felt for a while that any club which enters administration should be demoted a division from the one they are due to play in the following season.  It is the only deterrent which will have an effect and force clubs to pay their way.

Bob......The problem is caused because clubs can't afford to pay their way.

Yes they can! They just choose not to. Bob is correct, something has to be done to stop this. We could quite easily end up with 5 clubs going bump from the conf in one season, its turning football into a complete farce!

They could afford to pay their way if they didnt sign players on £1000 per weeek contracts! and if they realised that speding on temporary glory will result in massive consequences, putting the future of the club in doubt... the point is they could afford the pay their way if they werent getting away with murder, and going down the wrong path, deciding to pay all this money they dont have. We've been over it time and time again on this forum and the bottom line is they are choosing to spend money on the wrong things, mounting debts which evidently leads to administration etc...

Just like teasy beaver said, they make the wrong choices

The only solution at ALL levels worldwide is a cap on wages and within leagues, a cap on entry prices.

Even then I think the bigger clubs would find a way.

But the wagecap doesn't work though does it?

Just look at Accrington's title win 2 years ago.

In a utopian world, which I know will never happen, clubs would live within their means according to their actual income. If you have a part-time club with crowds of 800 then you should be able to survive pretty well. If you are a full-time club with an average gate of 3,000 then, again, you should be able to survive pretty well if honest people are in charge.

The problem comes from clubs whose spending and ambitions go too far beyond their actual means. The only way clubs with small crowds can be full-time is if they are bankrolled by individuals. The problem with bankrolling is that, what happens when the individuals money runs out? You end up like Canvey Island. And that's what will happen, and in some cases already has happened, to the likes of Woking, FGR, Ebbsfleet etc who will not sustain full-time football in the long term.

Well done to your club for resisting the "sh*t or bust" tendancy shown by clubs similar to you because you will still be around when they are long gone to some feeder league as an "AFC".
