John Laidlar's Alty FC Website....
« on: September 11, 2007, 12:35:24 AM »

....was the subject of an article in Sunday's issue of Non League Today.

It received richly-deserved praise and was awarded 8 marks out of 10.

I suspect that the great man is far too modest to refer to this on the official website, so I thought that I'd mention it on here.

Thanks again for all your magnificent work, Mister Laidlar.

I am often staggered by the work that must go into it.  Research on other clubs, ex players, not to mention detailed match reports from first team to youth team.

And a daily update every day (bar holidays).  John (and Dana his wife who I know helps a lot) is one of Alty's secret treasures.

How would you go about replacing a man who does about 2 hours work a day for no reward other than a bit of praise now and then?

Absolute legend in my book.

Absolutely. And always seems to be recognised by fans of other clubs as well, well it would be given that it ahs more info on it about clubs than their own website.

A couple of comments from Oxford fans.

Also good website which they control as opposed to working on a premium TV template.

An excellent website and a very friendly
club.

Altrincham and the surrounds (Hale & Bowdon) are very nice.

I think Freddie Flintoff lives in the village of Bowdon.

I think there is (was?) as Accrington won it the other year.

Either way I 'd be lost without John's website, it's the first site I look at every day, if it's not there I don't need to know about it!! Keep up the great work.

As an exile from the age of 5 the website (and the forum, thanks GW) is my only real link to the club - it's brilliant.  With all the goings on a Weymouth last year I was keeping my Weymouth supporting friend at work up to date as there was more stuff about it on our website the theirs.

Mr Laidlar (smiley doing we are not worthy arm actions)
