Thanks Cult, it is very similar...but the 'Rafo' version seems to be being played on Rolf's Stylephone and a bazooka.

The music played at the end of the game wwas the music played at the end of ITVs coverage of the 1998 World Cup final. I have this on video at home (I'm in Wales at the moment). WHen I get home I'll check the credits and find out exactly who it was and who it was by.

Edit: I think this is it

I knew being this weird would come in handy one day.  :)

Also, tell the BSP to sling it with their gay insistence that both teams come out together. We're not the sodding premiership or a cup final. It's the conference.

The away team can sheepishly come out before Phil Taylor stands at the end of the tunnel to give the thumbs up to signify the start of fanfare so that the mighty robins runout to it all on their own. DA DA DAAAR DA DA DAAARR

It's definitely not the tune linked above...it's similar but not quite the same.
The tune played at the end of games evokes loads of memories; when I think about the end of match tune, the flood light are on, it's a bit misty/rainy and I'm thinking "get in there Alty' - Stu is sliding down on his knees and I'm in the bar by the second part of the tune ordering a pint of smooth from Jenny - obviously that didn't happen too often last season!

We still need to find out who pinched the CD though.

Did anyone see a chef lurking around the ground in the last few weeks, that might give us a clue as to where the CD now resides.

dear god is nothing sacred?
alty run out to fanfare for the common man. thats what they do. much like the ravens in the tower of london, if this ever stops happening then there will be dire consequences.
even if it is rubbish

I find it hard to believe that the ravens in the Tower of London come out to Fanfare For The Common Man!?  :o    ;)

By the way, as a plan B if fanfare was knackered. I think it'd be great to have a mosh up to this before we came out. The first minute or so is brilliant.

Dont change it!! Me and my mum used to play full blast in the car on the way to Alty matches, and now we love it again 'cos its the music to the Olympic adverts with Daley Thompson!
Good luck Saturday, and for the rest of the season.

Mrs Band,

On the evidence of your pleas for concert tickets on this Forum a while ago, I thought that you would have preferred Alty to have run out to Take That singing Could It Be Magic....?!

Fanfare for the Common Man was introduced at the beginning of the 1977-78 season and thus coincides with the Glory Days quite neatly.

At the beginning of the 70's the run out tune was the Match of the Day theme - I remember being late for the Blackburn FA Cup replay, running down Acacia Avenue and hearing the MOTD theme rising into the crisp winter air!

Reminds me of watching Widnes RLFC in the late 70s where they used to play "The Floral Dance" (non Wogan version)
