As you may be aware by previous posts we have been looking at ways to raise money for new stewards equipment and also the club, This is a never been tried idea by Louise Gregory and Louise Bowyer who have kindly agreed to organise the event.
If anybody can donate any of the above items (They must be in good condition and in date) please drop them in at the club between  9am -5pm monday to friday or leave me a message on here or by email altychiefsteward@ntlworld.com and we might be able to collect them.

The event will be leaflet dropped on roads around the ground,Posters and hopefully in the messenger

At what sector of the community is this idea aimed at?

I would expect that on a Friday most people would be at work.

Not alot of time in a lunch hour to get to the ground, have coffee and get back to work.

I would therefore assume it is aimed at the elderly maybe?

If so specific marketing to the elderly should be considered - Old peoples homes, Churches, Community Halls, Library, Doctors Surgeries etc.

Hope you dont think I am being negative here but I just cant see many attending this, unless SPECIFIC marketing is done to SPECIFIC sectors who would be interested in what is on offer. Joe Public just wouldnt attend in my eyes.

I don't see the benefit in targeting churches as they hold their own coffee mornings and people in old folk's homes very often aren't able to get "out and about" without specialised assistance.

However, I see Jenga's point. Maybe the solution is to have more events like the excellent Champions League final offer in the Noel White Suite when people can come along and have a beer and some chips. The more oftne we can use our bar to make moeny on non-matchdays the better.

Believe it or not we have had quite a bit of interest all raedy and we haven't even advertised elsewhere apart from on here and the main website, If you read the post it is a new idea good or bad one who knows but at least people are willing to try.

Its not about people not willing to try. Its constructive criticism to try and make it more successful. If there has been a lot of interest already and it has only been on here and the main website then just think about the potential it could have if other areas were targeted as others have mentioned. I also think Alty 1981 has made a good point about using the bar for outside events on non matchdays. It would be brilliant if we could use it more often.

Maybe giving a few ideas of numbers would be a good idea to people on here so they could say a "well done" and not have people getting frustrated because they think no one is trying.

Other area's will be targeted i:e posters etc and 500 houses will be leaflet dropped the week before no idea of specific numbers we will have to wait and see on the day. All idea's welcome maybe i am not reading the same posts but it seems to me people are suggesting friday is a bad idea.

Friday am seems fine to me as I'm sure it's aimed at the millions who have nought to do at that time.

It doesn't stop all those TV companies broadcasting at that time.

Whatever time you have an event there will be problems and clashes...if you held it at 7pm on a monday you'd say how are all those housewives cooking their husbands tea gonna make it.....good luck with the event I'm sure it will be well attended and if it just brings in one family like mine who have supported alty for 35 years aftre attending a firework night at alty then it'll be worth it.....if it raises a few quid as well all the better.

I think any ideas that bring money into the club are good ones. Increasing the diversity of the type of consumers we target is entirely the correct approach.

Alty 1981, I suggested Friday might be a bad idea, and I still hold that view, I would have thought a Saturday morning would be better, but that is only my thoughts.

Darren, please get me wrong on this. I fully support what your doing.

I am just offering some thoughts and ideas that might not have been thought of before.

It is worth a try but if it is aimed at the biddy brigade why not include a game of bingo to keep them there for a few hours so they spend more.

Personally, I think it's healthy that we're using the forum in a constructive way to try and get the very best out of our ideas.
