Has Altrincham library got a copy....?

I guess Amazon's the best place for a copy, sounds interesting  and despite what some alty fans think of him I'll read it.  :)

That review has been published before by by another paper I'm sure. Without being uncharitable I reckon the summary we've seen is probably as good as it gets. Loved Wardy as a player for that season, not as a manager, and seeing how his life turned out well I can't comment too much apart from in my Poly days just after he left Vics to join Oldham, (I think) a college pal from Huyton advised me on the lad's background and tendencies. Sounds like he's trying to get straight though, good luck to him.

My favourite memory of Mark Ward was when he cleared the ball out from a defensive position to the left wing. He got his trajectory wrong and ended up putting it in the Popular side.

I was behind the goals at the Twenty Twenty end and Hughesys voice floated over:-

BBLLOOOOOOOODDYYY HHEEEELLLL - In a perfect imitation of Dennis B

I still laugh at that even now

Cheers

I will always remember him for his magical midfield play in 1998/99 when he helped transform us into a championship contending side. Some of his performances were out of this world.

His tenure as manager is best forgotten....

I recently read "Psycho", the autobiography of Stuart Pearce. He actually names Mark Ward as the most difficult player he has had to defend against in the Football League over almost 20 seasons !

He even makes the comment that when he replies "Mark Ward", people say "Mark who" ?
