Further to Cymru's post perhaps all us expats could consider posting in the local tongue.

Up the old apples and pears of me old stable we'll be.

Col might add something, Haway we'r ganna win nee botha,

I won't try the Gazelle's offering.

Perhaps I should put the bottle back in the cupboard?

Another dismal display proving we were all correct when we questioned the appointment of ken mckenna.....kiddy think it's xmas and sing we'll never play you again.......alty fans turn against the club singing "sack the board" and "where's the money gone?"....colin peake asks to audit our accounts just in case as we slip closer to FGR into the AGM places.

Superstition over.....c'mon you red and white ba$tards!!!!!!

This saturday, as I have been reminded by the 'through the years' column, is the aqnniversary of my worst ever moment as an Alty fan - getting beaten 0-6 at  South Liverpool.
Was very surprised it was 39 years ago!!!!

A win against Kiddie would make up for it all.
A win against Chester on Monday would leave me able to forget Holly Park completely!

As a youngish fan, I find this concept of 'South Liverpool' quite fascinating. Did they used to play in Garston in that minging auld ground I've been past once or twice? What happened to them, bankruptcy?

I'd been banned from driving at the time (Ah the follies of youth!) so had to go on the train from Manchester - changing at Warrington - and got off at Allerton station not Garston as I remember. The ground was next to it.
The situation as far as I know with regards to them was that they were the subject of several arson attacks and had their clubhouse burnt down and their main stand seriously damaged. Not attracting more than 100 or so to league games and being unable to get insurance cover they could afford they were forced to fold.
However there is now a team in the Liverpool Combination (Step 8 or so) called South Liverpool so they may have re-formed in some incarnation.

So far this season I've tipped us to lose twice and we've won..........so Kiddy 3 Alty 1 (Young).

On the subject of South Liverpool, I remember going to Holly Park on a bitterly cold day with no grass on the pitch and watching the worst 0-0 draw I've seen in 56 years of watching the beautiful game.

The vandalism problem wasn't helped by the ability of the Scouse hooligans to gain easy access to the ground from the adjoining Allerton Loco Depot.

Any other old fogeys remember the highly reputed but woefully inept striker we signed from them in the late 60's, Eric Shreeve ? The worst striker we ever had until the amazing Mr.Tunnacliffe !

I recall Eric Shreeve but more round 1972 I'd say, unless he had two spells. I don't recall him being that bad, had a decent flick on header from corners. Much much better than Dave (the oil tanker) Furnival.

Mustn't forget Darren Royle either!

taxi Phil,

Wash your mouth out, you heretic!

That's an outrageous libel of the great Tunna's unique playing style.

SW is spot on with his nominations of both Dave Furnival (all the mobility of a grand piano with Jo Brand lying on top of it) and the utterly abysmal Darren Royle.

Not to mention the likes of Paul Williams; Wayne Entwistle; Peter Thomson; Martin Hanchard.....

P.S. Score prediction: Kidderminster to win by at least two goals.
