Colin Murphy was a legend. It had nothing whatever to do with his ability as a manager (he taught John Beck everything he knew) but rather the style of his programme notes. Boy could he ramble !

I don't suppose any of you programme buffs out there have got an example of Murphyspeak in your collections that you could upload ? Younger Forumites deserve the opportunity to sample the work of a tortured genius !

Phil,

As requested, here's a sample of Colin Murphy's literary style:

''You, me, we all of us, have been forced to breakfast on travesty, lunch on objection and insult, dine on inflicted pressure.

''High tea we daren't sit still long enough to take and by supper we were still expected to have been victorious.''

Is he Jacko's prose guru, by any chance...?!

the very fact you have used prose as a word would say to me your a cock

Jacko,

I love it when you talk dirty to me...! :-*

Ahhh bless, the hard of thinking reverts to abuse when threatened by the versatility of his native tongue.

New clip... a bit of Tommy Doc...

http://youtu.be/sfSQ2m0aPiM

I am greatly relieved to have missed all of Dochertys games as Alty manager. Stuck in the wilds of India at the time as I was, I never witnessed it I find it and consequently find it quite easy to pretend it didn't happen.

Well, I suppose that it wasn't all bad.....

After all, we did 1-0 win at Macc in the GMAC Cup whilst he was in charge, in our first competitive fixture against the Milkmen since March 1982 (owing to them being in a league below us for years).

This is a great nostalgia-fest in any case, but go to about 7m 25s, and they're in the car park at Chequers before getting the bus to Wembley...
