That is actually very good news and sensible too, bearing in mind the likely gate if another 50-70 turn up, it will be to both teams advantage. It needs to be well advertised though. Get it in this weeks Messenger if its not too late.

I would think the Messenger has already been delivered to some people by now. Word of mouth is the only way we can effectively advertise this one, perhaps a few posters up in the bar when they show the Chelsea game on Sunday.

Without the league teams this competition is a waste of time. Scrap it.

Cant agree with you on this one ...

Those who braved the Gale force winds last season at Witton were happy to see us lift the CSC..

OK its not the Champions Lge but it puts silverware in the trophy cabinet.

Enjoy it for what it is... and hopefully we will see you there on Tues.

Shoot me down, I enjoy the CSC.

Its a game where I can relax a bit, don't need to worry when teams attack or we waste a corner.

And its a little day out when we win it every year  ;D

Some great finals and semi's over the years, I love this cup but must agree it needs the league clubs for credibility.

I bet you didn't experience the glamour and excitement of an away Cheshire Senior Cup fixture against Cammell Laird back in 1978...

As I stated on a similar thread, don't knock the Cheshire Senior Cup.

There is prize money attached to winning it and, let's be honest, we haven't exactly won many cup ties in other competitions in recent years.

Didn't someone mention the idea of making it a pre-season tournament? I quite liked that. Let's face it, the League teams are never going to re-enter.

At least it'll give a couple of players the chance to up their fitness levels next Tuesday. Welchy, Robbie Lawton, Antonio Bryan, Pearson, Russell Saunders, they could all do with games and this is a decent opportunity to get the best part of 90 minutes in a (vaguely) competitive game against (vaguely) decent opposition.

We spend loads of time slagging off the Cheshire FA and other Clubs.

I think on this occasion we should be recognising that without the County FA and Witton agreeing to this (or maybe even suggesting it) the admission prices would have remained unchanged

Where's the credibility in going to an empty Gresty Road to watch us get beaten by Crewe's reserves though? There's no glamour in that as far as I'm concerned.

I always used to enjoy random away ties like Cheadle Town (except the one where we got taken to a replay in 1999-2000!!).

I do, however, believe it would be better if it was a pre-season tournament.

You're right.

Congratulations must go to the Cheshire FA for not making a ridiculous decision. In fact, I congratulated myself this morning for not walking out in front of a bus.

Indeed. They're getting fair treatment in that for a change we don't have cause to moan about them ruining something.

I don't think knocking £3 off will have any affect on the attendance. People don't consider the price when deciding whether or not to go to a game. If they did nobody would ever go to Oxford.

I think it will give the attendance a minor boost.

People make a decision as to whether it's value for money. Paying more to go to one of the bigger clubs in the division might be seen as 'value' by some. I agree with you, I think they charge too much, but it's not as simple as "people don't consider price". I suspect there's barely an Alty fan out there who thought full league price for the CSC was value.
