Today's Alty Trivia Question
« on: December 24, 2009, 11:28:49 PM »

Here's one to pass the time whilst you are waiting for those sprouts to digest.....

What did an Altrincham FC team do during the 1961/62 season that they have never done since and are extremely unlikely ever to do again?

N.B. The following individuals are excluded from responding, as they already know the answer: Ballers; Brian Flynn; George Heslop.

The first person to submit the correct answer will win a copy of the limited edition George Heslop 2010 calendar.

Play on Christmas Day?

ATS demonstrates that even referees are sometimes correct...

25th December 1961
Cheshire County League

Winsford United 1  Altrincham 1

The last occasion on which Alty played a match on Christmas Day.

i was listening to a radio station (I forget which once) who were pushing for crimbo day footy to be re-introduced.  Belting atmosphere, always a local derby.  It will never happen again, but the joy of it...the pure JOY of crimbo day footy,  Yes please!
