Forecast for the rest of the season
« on: January 07, 2007, 02:30:19 PM »

Just been looking at the rest of our fixtures to wee what we can get from the rest of the season:

Woking (a) 1 point
Vics (a) 3
Kiddie (h) 1
Southport (a) 0
York (h) 0
Crawley (a) 0
Grays (h) 1
Burton (a) 0
Cambridge (h) 3
Weymouth (a) 0
Morecambe (a) 0
Oxford (h) 1
Stevenage (a) 0
Stafford (h) 1
Exeter (h) 1
St Albans (a) 1
Gravesend & N (h) 0
Dagenham & R (a) 0
Tamworth (a) 3
Aldershot (h) 1

Thats 17 more points from 20 games giving a season total of 47. I have probably been a little pessimistic too! But that should be enough I think!

Agreed???

Think we can do better than that.  Interesting that you've got us down for a draw against Stafford and Oxford. With 4 going down I'm not sure 47 pts will be enough, nobody's adrift at the bottom and jst about any team in the bottom half of the table can beat any other team in the bottom half.

The key to staying up is getting a few away wins - last year Aldershot and Scabby (was there a third??), this year no wins so far away - and maintaing a good record at Moss Lane.

Come On Alty.

Be nice to break the away duck at our neighbours in the Chemical Works.

17 is probably thre minimum we need to achieve, as GH states we need to win some of those unexpected games especially away.

If we can keep injury free and the current attitude and passion I think we have a good chance of staying up.

Best chance of staying up is 5 home wins - simple as that! We should 'target', if that is the right word, the home games against ex-league opposition - Cambridge, Kiddy, Aldershot and perhaps even York and Exeter (hoping they are not challenging for play off places when we meet them). Stafford at home is also winnable, as is Grays (as long as they don't recover by the time we play them). I would go for a handful of away draws as long as we win at home - 20 points.

I'm going to have a go at this to see if we can stay up.

Woking (a) 1
Vics (a) 1
Kiddie (h) 1
Southport (a) 3
York (h) 0
Crawley (a) 0
Grays (h) 3
Burton (a) 0
Cambridge (h) 1
Weymouth (a) 0
Morecambe (a) 0
Oxford (h) 0
Stevenage (a) 0
Stafford (h) 3
Exeter (h) 0
St Albans (a) 1
Gravesend & N (h) 0
Dagenham & R (a) 0
Tamworth (a) 1
Aldershot (h) 1

I get another sixteen points, so an unexpected win somewhere could just do it.

I get our final points tally to 52 at least - probably 54 - so don't worry folks!  ;)
