Common sense like the german/spanish leagues they have a break over xmas,
Then play more into the summer as cricket is sh*te anyway,

Suppose the traditionalists would be far to stubburn for that, oh well let this go on forever shall we

The practical viability of this is dubious for football in general:
Every other year the season (at the Premier League at least) has to finish early enough for the World Cup/European Championship.
If games are played at Xmas/New Year they tend to be the money spinners.
Any cold/snowy snap can happen any time from Dec to Mar - so if you have the break at Xmas/New Year and then the cold snap when the season restarts you have a larger & later fixture backlog and a further delay in revenue.
I like cricket!

Of course, it could work in Scotland as they never qualify for touyrnaments and they're crap at cricket!

The germans do it and theyve done better than us in most world cups, it is mostly around this time that postponements happen and maybe playing in more summer weather may do our game a favour too, just think its a no brainer personally

The only way that could work is by reducing the amount of teams in each division. For clubs like Alty that would be a disaster.

They have a smaller top division I believe

There are 18 teams in the German Bundesliga so they play 12 games less than Alty.  If the BSP was reduced to 18 teams the bottom 6 would probably be the ones to go. This means a loss of income and a harder fight against relegation.

Ok easy, we,ll do away with carling, johnsons paint trophy, cheshire senior cup,fa trophy and pre season 5 games that are usually crap anyway and there we have it,playing in better weather=better football and less postponements=  less fixture pile ups= better standard of life etc fact!!!

Who the hell is sep blatter??? Get jacko in charge ;D

Also if we had a winter break it gives fans chance to miss it again thus keeping attendences high all year round, the summer break is far too long for me

Start season earlier. Players get Xmas off and no BSP, N + S  fixtures from 15th Dec to 15th Jan
Staff from all clubs get well earned rest too.
Bet you clubs that have managed to play over Xmas wouldnt like this tho.
Is this just sour grapes coz we had no fixtures ??
Ask me next year and if we manage to play some Xmas games id probably change my mind.
There you go. Keep it as it is then!!

NO.

It's not every season is it?

bring the season forward and screw up school holidays.  not very parent friendly.

Keep as it is.

Well its the only answer to the problem, you can't complain about postponements every season at this time of year if your not prepared to change

The major issue is that only one game in the Premiership has been postponed - and that has been a rarity over the past few years.  There's no way that the Premiership will change their whole fixture structure to suit the lower leagues.
