Having just read on the website that 2010 sees the centenary of football at Moss Lane I was wondering if the club had any ideas of how they might capitalise on it and hopefully make a few bob into the bargain?

Anyone know what they have planned ?

Given that the other lot down the road in Trafford are also celebrating their centenary at Gold Trafford how about a special centenary match between the two?

or second best, Macclesfield as they were supposedly the first opposition to play at Moss Lane ?

or third best how about the bluenosed tenants from the Council House ?

To be honest, that second half against FGR the other year seemed like 100 years in itself to me.  Wink

When I think that it's thirty seven years since I first went to a game at Moss Lane a hundred doesn't seem that long really   Sad

Some good ideas. United have been known to play teams of a similar reputation to us occasionally. I'm sure they sent a strongish side to Burton Albion in order to open their new ground. I also vaguely recall them playing a very unfashionable club in Scotland for some reason or other.

I think City agreeing to a game is unlikely. We don't house their reserves, we don't seem to have much of a rapport with them, they're not based in our borough, etc etc. Obviously Macclesfield would be a decent back-up option if we can't get a game against the big boys.

37 years sort of puts it in perspective.  its 41 years for me bloody hell i feel old . The last twenty have been hard work with some great moments but how good was that 12/15 years when we were awesome. At least we have had that.
Here 's to another 41 years if i make it that far

As it says in my profile, it's 56 years for me -and if I even manage another 41, I'll have whatever technology replaces a telegram from William the Fifth !

Anyone clarify what is now built on what was Pollitts Field?
I am guessing that is the site that Bradbury School use to play there football matches on.
The Woolpack was a famous Irish Pub and on the site of the Mall near the corner of Regents Road.

I'd reckon on the houses on Urban Rd, Urban Close etc. On the map it looks too far forward towards Moss Lane to be a part of BTH site too.
